About the Role
Come Join Our Team! Specialty Care is looking for a Physician - Gastroenterologist. Gastroenterologists are responsible for the evaluation of all new GI consults both inpatient and outpatient, with appropriate responses provided to the consulting party (including treatment plans, if applicable) within National, VISN, or facility guidelines. Diagnosis and treatment within the scope of the Gastroenterological specialty are required. *NOTE: This is a Temporary Not to Exceed 1 year position.

- →Proper documentation of workload including completion of consult requests, event capture, or encounter forms is required within the timelines specified by National, VISN, or facility guidelines.
- →Telephonic contact is required in urgent/emergent situations.
- →Appropriate diagnosis and/or treatment may require contact with colleagues at VA or Non-VA facilities.
- →Gastroenterologists will be expected to obtain informed consent as outlined in Salem VAMC MCM 658-11-19 (or most current version) for any and all invasive procedures to be performed.
- →The discussion of the treatment plan with patient and/or family members is required.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
