About the Role
This position is located at Lebanon VA Medical Center in Lebanon, PA.
What You'll Do
- →The incumbent is responsible for the daily clinical operations of the Emergency Department and reports to the Medicine Service Line.
- →The incumbent will evaluate, diagnose, and provide treatment.
- →The incumbent will take part in continuing medical education and quality assurance activities.
- →The highest degree of good judgment, ethical behavior and professional demeanor is required at all times in the incumbents contact with patients, peers and all other employees.Major duties include, but are not limited to: Reports out/in at each change of shifts with the other ED physician for a hand off of patient care.
- →This "hand-off" must include a report of patient conditions, special instructions.
- →Enters note on all patients that are seen by the ED physician.
- →Hospital policies regarding documentation must be followed.
- →May need to respond to cardiopulmonary emergencies on the LVAMC campus.
- →Must be available for "backup" as identified on the published schedule.
- →Sustains collaborative working relationships with other staff, assist in resolving conflicts, and contribute to the accomplishment of VISN and Medical Center strategic goals and performance measures.
- →Works effectively within a team environment contributing to the effectiveness of the team to deliver safe, cost effective, quality, timely, and patient-focused care.
- →Actively demonstrates the ability to understand the complexity of an integrated medical care delivery system and how change affects the system as a whole.

Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.

- ✓Must be proficient in written and spoken English.

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).

- ✓Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine.
- ✓The degree must have been obtained from an institution whose accreditation was in place for the year in which the course of study was completed.
