About the Role
The VA Puget Sound Healthcare System is recruiting for one Emergency Medicine Physician to evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients at the VA hospital in Seattle, WA. This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Please see "Duties" below for more details.
What You'll Do
- →Duties will include but are not limited to: Evaluates, diagnoses, and treats patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
- →Performs endotracheal intubation when clinically indicated.
- →Manages ventilatory support for critically ill patients.
- →Places and manages central venous catheters.
- →Conducts Emergency Medicine telemedicine visits with Veterans as needed.
- →Provides clinical education and supervision for Health Profession Trainees in the Emergency Department.
- →Maintains capability for possible faculty appointment with the University of Washington.
- →Delivers high-quality, patient-centered acute care across variable tours (days, weekends, nights).
- →Coordinates care with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe evaluation, stabilization, and disposition.
- →Applies evidence-based practices and remain current with Emergency Medicine standards.
- →Documents all clinical encounters accurately in the medical record.
- →Participates in department process-improvement and patient-safety initiatives.
- →Communicates effectively with patients, families, and team members during high-acuity situations.
- →Provides rapid stabilization for trauma, cardiac, neurologic, and other life-threatening emergencies.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.

- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical evaluation/examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).

- ✓Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine.
