About the Role
This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until September 30, 2026. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be Thursday July 30,2026. Eligible applications received after that date will be referred at regular intervals or as additional vacancies occur on an as-needed basis until positions are filled.

- →This Physician is the Emergency Department within the Medical Service and practices at the independent clinical level of practice.
- →The Physician has specialized knowledge of practice related to assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of a variety of Emergency Medicine conditions.
- →Major Duties but not limited to: Emergency Medicine physicians assess, evaluate, diagnose and initially treat patients in the Emergency Department with any symptom, illness or condition.
- →Stabilize patients with major illnesses or injuries and assess all patients to determine if additional care is necessary.
- →Perform or assist in related procedures.
- →Works as a member of the Emergency Medicine team at the Hershel "Woody" Williams campus of the Huntington VA Hospital.
- →There may be other duties as assigned or required.
- →Work Schedule: Hours/days will vary.
- →Your schedule will ultimately be determined by your Supervisor and be based on needs of the Department, Facility, and/or Agency.
- →Compressed tour may be authorized.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.
- ✓Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.

- ✓Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued dentification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical evaluation.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
- ✓You may be required to serve a probationary period.

- ✓Education and length of practice are considered through a formal pay-setting process to determine the final compensable salary (Base Pay + Market Pay).
