About the Role
The Eastern Colorado Health Care System is currently recruiting for a Physician - Emergency Medicine.
What You'll Do
- →GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF ASSIGNED DUTIES: The Emergency Room Physician provides emergent and urgent clinical services to eligible Veterans and ECHCS employees.
- →Services are provided within the VA ECHCS.
- →The incumbent is expected to interact with the Veteran as well as family members, significant others, community agencies and providers, employees, and other staff.
- →FUNCTIONS OR SCOPE OF ASSIGNED DUTIES: The Physician practices in the Emergency Room at the ECHCS at the expert level.
- →The Physician is academically and clinically prepared to be responsible for managing the full spectrum of emergency care.
- →Emergency care at ECHCS includes, but is not limited to, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring outcome measures of healthcare problems of patients presenting with emergent care concerns.
- →A nonexclusive list includes the following: performing histories and physicals, initiating and adjusting therapeutic regimens, ordering diagnostic and therapeutic tests/studies, initiating consults to specialty services, prescribing medications/supplies in accordance with VA policy and the VA formulary, and assigning appropriate follow-up care.

Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.
- ✓Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.

- ✓Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued identification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
- ✓You may be required to serve a probationary period.

- ✓Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine.
