About the Role
Southern Arizona VA Health Care System is recruiting a Detail Opportunity Not-To-Exceed (120) Days as the Physician (Deputy Chief of Staff). This position reports to the Chief of Staff and serves as the Acting Physician (Deputy Chief of Staff) and will supervise clinical services or programs as determined by the Chief of Staff. *Travel and Lodging Expenses will be agreed upon Stations and depending on Selectee's Location.*

- →Implement evidence-based practices to drive unidirectional reduction in variation as compared to facilities of similar complexity.

- →Serves on VISN 22 committees and assumes VISN 22 leadership roles as assigned by the Network Director with concurrence of the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS) Medical Center Director.
- →Serves as SAVAHCS committees, taskforces and workgroups as assigned by the Chief of Staff or the Medical Center Director.
- →Has oversight of Veterans Health Administration (VHA) education programs.
- →Demonstrates flexibility in day-to-day management by assisting the Chief of Staff with ad hoc issues/assignments as necessary.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.

- ✓Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued identification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
- ✓You may be required to serve a probationary period.

- ✓Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine.
