About the Role
The Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System (GCVHCS) is a complexity level 1c facility assigned to the Veterans Integrated Service Network 16 (VISN 16), providing quality, patient-centered health care to more than 99,000 Veterans throughout South Mississippi, South Alabama and the Florida Panhandle. GCVHCS is seeking a Board Certified physician to serve as its Chief of Staff (COS). This position is a full member of the Senior Leadership Team and reports directly to the Medical Center Director.
What You'll Do

- →Major duties include but not limited to the following: Participates in Executive Leadership discussions, decisions, policy making, and provides program direction to other executives, managers and assigned personnel.
- →Provides input, advice and counsel for total Medical Center planning, programming, budgeting, and general administration.
- →Manages large, diverse service lines, which provide health care services central to the mission of the GCVHCS.
- →Establishes clinical objectives congruent with and reflective of the philosophy and objectives of the medical Center and the VISN.
- →Develops long-range and short-term goals and programs required to meet stated mission goals.
- →Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm.
- →Subject to change based on the needs of the facility.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.

- ✓Must pass pre-placement evaluation.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
- ✓You may be required to serve a probationary period.

- ✓Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine.
