About the Role
The Northern Arizona VA Health Care System (NAVAHCS), is seeking one (1) experienced Physician (Chief Hospitalist) to lead and support our hospitalist team. This key leadership role include hands-on clinical work, oversight, administration of all aspects of the service, and collaboration to ensure Veterans receive timely, high-quality inpatient care while advancing VA's mission to serve those who served our Nation.

- →Provide inpatient medical consultative services to any other services which request a consultation.
- →Document all clinical encounters at the time of visit and record the patient's full and comprehensive history and physical within 24 hours of admission.
- →Participate in making daily rounds on all medical inpatients every day, including weekends and holidays.
- →Write interval progress notes at a frequency reflecting the complexity, severity, and stability of the patient's condition, but no less often than every visit with the patient.
- →Initiate diagnostic modalities and stabilize medical therapies in the event of a medical urgency or emergency while notifying the Medicine staff, Nursing Officer of the Day, and the Transfer Coordinator.
- →Maintain and revise, as appropriate, all medical aspects of the care plan, including overall goals for management of all medical problems and specification of the methods by which goals will be attained.
- →Seek necessary consultation as dictated by the patient's underlying diagnosis and condition.
- →Build and sustain collaborative relationships and work to resolve conflicts at the lowest possible level.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.
- ✓Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.
- ✓Acceptable form(s) of identification will be required to complete pre-employment requirements (https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/form-i-9-acceptable-documents).
- ✓Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued identification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
- ✓You may be required to serve a probationary period.

- ✓Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine.
