About the Role
The Robley Rex VA Medical Center in Louisville, KY, is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Cardiologist to join our team. As a Cardiologist, you will provide expert medical care for patients with cardiovascular diseases and work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care to our veterans.
What You'll Do
- →Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 1.
- →Patient Care: Conduct thorough cardiovascular examinations and assessments.
- →Diagnose and treat patients with a wide range of heart and vascular conditions.
- →Develop comprehensive treatment plans including medications, lifestyle modifications, and surgical interventions if necessary.
- →Interpret and evaluate diagnostic tests such as EKGs, echocardiograms, stress tests, and cardiac catheterizations.
- →Provide ongoing follow-up care and monitoring for patients with chronic cardiovascular conditions. 2.
- →Clinical Procedures: Perform and supervise cardiac procedures including but not limited to angioplasty, stenting, electrophysiology studies, and pacemaker/ICD implantation.
- →Ensure adherence to clinical protocols and standards during all procedures. 3.
- →Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with primary care physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care for patients with cardiovascular conditions.
- →Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care plans and outcomes.
- →Communicate effectively with patients and their families to educate them about their conditions and treatment options. 4.
- →Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate and timely medical records and documentation in accordance with VA policies and regulations.
- →Ensure compliance with all relevant medical and ethical standards, guidelines, and regulations. 5.
- →Education and Training: Provide education and training to medical students, residents, and fellows in the field of cardiology.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.

- ✓Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued dentification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical evaluation.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
- ✓You may be required to serve a probationary period.

- ✓Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine.
