About the Role

The St. Cloud VA Health Care System is seeking an Assistant Medical Director of Specialty Clinics in St. Cloud, MN. The Assistant Medical Director is a department level management position that provides mentorship and leads competent, satisfied staff dedicated to providing high quality patient-centered care at the St. Cloud VA Health Care System through administrative leadership. An incentive is authorized for highly qualified candidates.

  • The Assistant Medical Director of Specialty Clinics is responsible for the direct management and oversight of clinical and administrative operations within the Primary and Specialty Medicine (PSM) service line.
  • These duties include supervision (directly or indirectly) of physicians and mid-level providers at the Health Care System and the affiliated Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs), coordination of work schedules and responsibility for clinical performance measures.
  • The incumbent works closely with other leaders within the service line and facility to ensure optimization of resources in the care delivery model.
  • Additionally, s/he participates in local administrative, management, quality assurance, and other assignments, meetings, or committees as necessary or assigned.

  • You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.

Requirements

  • Citizenship: non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
  • Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
  • English Language Proficiency.
  • In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(f), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Subject to background/security investigation.
  • Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.
  • Acceptable form(s) of identification will be required to complete pre-employment requirements (https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/form-i-9-acceptable-documents).
  • Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued dentification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
  • Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
