About the Role
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.
What You'll Do
- →Leadership and Management: Overseeing daily operations of the anatomic pathology section.
- →Supervising and managing personnel, including pathologists, technicians, and support staff.
- →Developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure the highest quality of diagnostic services.
- →Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and standards from agencies such as CAP (College of American Pathologists) and CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments).
- →Clinical Responsibilities: Performing and reviewing diagnostic surgical pathology and cytopathology assessments.
- →Conducting autopsy services and forensic examinations when necessary.
- →Overseeing and guiding the interpretation of diagnostic specimens and providing expert opinions.
- →Ensuring accurate and timely reporting of diagnostic results.
- →Education and Training: Mentoring and training residents, fellows, and medical students in anatomic pathology.
- →Organizing and leading educational initiatives, conferences, and seminars.
- →Keeping the team informed about the latest advancements and best practices in anatomic pathology.
- →Quality Assurance and Improvement: Implementing and monitoring quality control and quality assurance programs.
- →Analyzing diagnostic performance data and striving for continuous improvement.
- →Addressing and resolving any issues related to diagnostic accuracy or laboratory performance.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).

- ✓Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine.
