About the Role
The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System is recruiting for an Physician (Acute). The Physician (Acute) will function in Medicine Service.
What You'll Do

- →This dynamic role encompasses approximately 50% overnight solo coverage of our busy Emergency Department and 50% direct patient care on inpatient medical wards and post-acute units.
- →These duties include cross-coverage and admissions on the inpatient medical wards and overseeing a high volume of patients in the post-acute, dementia, and long-term care spinal cord units.
- →As a key member of our multidisciplinary healthcare team, you will collaborate closely with advanced practice providers and resident physicians to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.
- →Flexibility and adaptability are vital, as additional responsibilities and variable shifts will be assigned based on the evolving needs of the Acute Medicine Section.
- →Exceptional communication and organizational skills are essential to succeed in this fast-paced and multifaceted environment.
- →Board certification is preferred.
- →Faculty appointment at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine is available, commensurate with prior experience.
- →Preference will be given to candidates with proven expertise in emergency department and inpatient medicine.
- →Work Schedule: Various tours to encompass both day and night shifts.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).

- ✓Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine.
