About the Role

This position is located in the Pharmacy Department within the Phoenix Service Unit, in Parker, AZ and Fort Duchesne, UT. The incumbent serves as a Pharmacist with specialization in clinical informatics applications; coordinating the implementation, management, program development, and clinical development of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and other clinical packages. Reports to the Chief of Pharmacy. A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).

What You'll Do

  • Total Compensation Package - Check out IHS's outstanding total compensation package for this job: Pharmacist Total Compensation | Pay (ihs.gov) Responsible for the local setup and maintenance of clinical software along with the implementation of new clinical packages/software patches.
  • Analyzes and evaluates processes related to information flow and serves as a liaison between service lines concerning these processes to ensure appropriate and accurate data flow.
  • Trains providers and other system users, on a continuous basis, to incorporate new technology into their daily practice, along with developing tools to enhance appropriate and accurate documentation and promotion of the importance of data validity and data security to all system users.
  • Develops treatment protocols, standards of practice, and policies associated with, or that may be enhanced by, the Electronic Health Record (EHR) through collaboration with other health professionals and applications coordinators.
  • Serves as an outpatient pharmacist providing on-site pharmaceutical support, such include, but not limited to: accurate filling and dispensing of prescription and over-the-counter medications, advise patients and nursing staff on dosage regimens, side effects and storage requirements; and interview patient/proxy to ascertain significant past and current medical and medication history.
  • Prior to the appointment, candidates must present two valid forms of identification.
  • If one of the documents is a state-issued ID or driver's license, it must be REAL ID-compliant.
  • IHS Selectees that will work in an IHS health care facility may be subject to Employee Health Policies related to Measles and Rubella, and seasonal influenza immunizations.
  • Vaccine exemption requests may be available according to the National and/or Service Unit guidance.
