This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.
What You'll Do
- →Establishes and maintains standards, configuration parameters, access controls, override criteria, downtime procedures, discrepancy resolution processes, and reporting methodologies to ensure safe, secure, and compliant medication distribution.
- →Accountable for system performance, data accuracy, risk mitigation, and corrective action planning related to automation-supported workflows.
- →Provides expert consultation and leadership in support of medication safety initiatives, controlled substance accountability, diversion prevention, security requirements, regulatory compliance, and accreditation readiness.
- →Leads analysis and response to automation-related events, discrepancies, and system failures, and develops systemwide improvement strategies to prevent recurrence.
- →Serves as the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) for pharmacy automation-related contracts, ensuring vendor performance, contract compliance, lifecycle planning, and alignment with clinical and operational needs.
- →Collaborates with OI&T, Biomedical Engineering, Clinical Informatics, Nursing, Contracting, and other stakeholders to support system implementation, optimization, upgrades, and issue resolution.
- →Participates in and presents requests to the Equipment Committee and other facility committees related to pharmacy automation and equipment support, including Integrated Project Teams (IPTs) associated with service activations, expansions, and modernization initiatives.
- →Clinical Pharmacy Support: Performs all functions of a GS-12 pharmacist as required.
- →Reviews and processes pending medication orders, including requests for non-formulary and restricted medications.
- →Evaluates prescriptions for appropriateness, dosing, contraindications, renal function considerations, drug interactions, and adherence to therapeutic guidelines.
- →Participates in formulary conversions, medication substitutions, shortages, and recall management.
- →Communicates medication changes and recommendations to providers and patients to ensure continuity of care and medication safety.
- →Perform other duties assigned.
- →Work Schedule: Full-Time.
