The GS-14 Supervisory Pharmacist (Associate Director) plans, directs and coordinates the comprehensive activities of the VA Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacy (CMOP), a highly automated mail order pharmacy that provides prescription order fulfilment, medication assessment and verification, and mail packaging for prescription orders transmitted electronically from host sites. Host sites include VA facilities as well as other government agencies with which the VA has sharing agreements.

- →The CMOP Associate Director is responsible for the integration of the CMOP operation with the Pharmacy Service of each of the hose sites to ensure timely, accurate and cost effective service that meets the needs of the outpatient population served.
- →Duties include but are not limited to: Manages the professional, operational, and administrative aspects of the Pharmacy operation to ensure provision of timely and progressive pharmaceutical services.
- →Provides leadership in the identification, analysis, and evaluation of healthcare trends and in the development of policies which ensure the provision of quality, cost-effective services.
- →Establishes short and long-range goals to meet the needs and objectives of the CMOP, the participating medical centers and the Department of Veterans Affairs while aligning with the strategic goals of the organization.
- →Establishes local policies and procedures that ensure compliance with current standards and regulations.
- →Exercises full authority for a large number of fund control points and fiscal management responsibility in evaluating the effective use and allocation of resources.
- →Reviews and evaluated projections and justifications for personnel equipment, space and funding needed to support the goals and mission of the CMOP, and ensures fiscal solvency.
- →Performs a full range of personnel management duties.
- →Provides a working environment that promotes and maintains the health and welfare of patients and employees.
- →Works to achieve objectives of Federal Personnel Programs including EEO, Federal Women's Program, Handicap Program, Labor-Management Relations etc.
- →Ensures the appropriate storage, security, and accountability of all pharmaceutical products and supplies.
- →Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares schedules for complex of work.
- →Evaluates work performance of subordinates.
Requirements
