What You'll Do
- →As a Park Ranger (Interpretation), you will perform the following duties: Exercises the full range of administrative and technical supervision for a supporting staff.
- →Supervisory duties performed by the position 20% or less of the time.
- →Coordinates the operation of visitor facilities, including developing daily work schedules and directing and auditing visitor services provided by lower graded employees.
- →Manages visitor concerns and needs.
- →Guides the learning of others through formal or informal methods.
- →Trains, mentors, coaches, and evaluates interpretive programs and products.
- →Develops and presents lesson plans, training sessions, developmental opportunities, and courses of curriculum.
- →Makes logistical arrangements to support training and coaching activities.
- →Coordinates special projects (e.g., special events, youth initiatives, teacher workshops, and regional or national committees).
- →Drafts and/or edits project proposals, timelines, and budgets.
- →Develops and presents formal and informal interpretive experiences delivered in-person and through interpretive media and technology.
- →Manages interpretive materials such as signs, waysides, publications, exhibits, and audio, video, and other digital content.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship required.
- ✓Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
- ✓Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.
- ✓Complete the initial online assessment and USA Hire Assessment, if required.
- ✓Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
- ✓You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards.
- ✓A uniform allowance will be provided.
- ✓You may be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
- ✓Supervisory duties performed by the position 20% or less of the time.
- ✓You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority.
- ✓You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required.
- ✓You will be required to submit a Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Driving Record.
- ✓You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you.
- ✓Any individual who is currently holding, or has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet time-in-grade requirements (must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent in the Federal service); with few exceptions as outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b).
