What You'll Do
- →If selected for this position, you will join our Civil Division.
- →The incumbent provides legal support to Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) in a variety of civil litigative activities.
- →Typical work assignments will include: Conducts financial searches to determine if criminal defendants have assets which can be executed upon to satisfy restitution or other court ordered payments.
- →Assesses debtors' ability to pay restitution or other debts owed to the United States.
- →Performs legal research on issues identified by Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSA) to include researching cases, statutes, regulations, court rules, policies, procedures, legal periodicals and other authorities.
- →Following established United States Attorney's Office (USAO) procedures and practices, drafts pleadings, briefs, motions, and correspondence for AUSA review.
- →Prepares and organizes documents and evidence for production in discovery and for use at trial.
- →Coordinates production of records and responses to requests for discovery.
- →Supports AUSAs in pre-trial witness conferences, depositions, hearings, and trials.
- →Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
Requirements
- ✓All academic degrees and coursework must be completed at a college or university that has obtained accreditation or pre-accreditation status from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S.
- ✓Department of Education.
