As an Operations Support Specialist, you will provide a variety of management services essential to the direction and operation of USCIS, assist management in administering policies and procedures, provide advice, guidance, and instruction to managers, supervisors, and employees concerning all administrative programs that include complex and sensitive issues.
What You'll Do
- →Organizational Location: This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S.
- →Citizenship and Immigration Services, within Fairfax VA Field Office and are assigned based on the need of the agency.
- →The responsibilities described are for the full performance level.
- →At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope performed with less independence, and limited complexity.
- →Utilize various software packages (word processing, spreadsheets, databases, etc.) to create, edit, print, and retrieve files.
- →Establish and maintain files and filing systems.
- →Order routine equipment, supplies and services.
- →Process or record numerical information.
- →Provide the upkeep and ensure accuracy of a variety of logs and records to support property management or inventory control.
- →Communicate verbally with various levels of employees and management in order to obtain and provide information.
- →Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- →Check and correct correspondence for grammatical errors and content in such things as reports, meeting minutes, contracts, briefings, etc.
- →Draft memos, transmittal letters, and form letters.
- →Prepare draft management reviews or draft management reports.
Requirements

- ✓LOCAL COMMUTING AREA: This job is for individuals who currently reside within the local commuting area or, if selected, are willing to establish their permanent residence within the local commuting area of the announced duty location(s) you are applying for.
- ✓Residency Requirement: There is a residency requirement for all applicants not currently employed by U.S.
- ✓Citizenship and Immigration Services.
- ✓This residency requirement states that candidates must have, for three of the last five years immediately prior to applying for this position; (1) resided in the United States; OR (2) worked for the United States Government as an employee overseas in a Federal or Military capacity, OR (3) been a dependent of a U.S.
- ✓Federal or Military employee serving overseas.
- ✓Probationary Period: You may be required to serve a probationary period of 1 year.
- ✓COMBINING QUALIFYING EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION (at the GS-07 level only): If you do not qualify based on experience or education alone, you may be able to qualify based on a combination of your experience and education.
