This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Leads and performs skilled operations, maintenance, and repair work on locks and dams, floating plant, facilities, and equipment while directing crews, coordinating work, ensuring safety, and providing technical training.
What You'll Do
- →Responsible for getting work started, setting the pace, and demonstrating proper work methods.
- →Obtains new supplies and materials using the Purchase Request and Commitment process.
- →Leads and performs work on Lock and Dam, facilities, grounds, and utilities both on land and aboard floating plant.
- →Reports to supervisors on status and progress of work, including causes of work delays.
- →Explains safety precautions to be followed in setting up machinery and equipment.
- →Reviews programs such as daily vessel logs and night security logs for conformance and accuracy.
- →Conducts training sessions designed to update, improve, or upgrade the knowledge and skills of others.
- →Provides input to supervisors regarding employee conduct and performance for DPMAP, rewards, and disciplinary purposes.
- →Shows the proper trade techniques and practices.
