About the Role
The incumbent is responsible for maintaining unit specific competencies to ensure safety and quality of care is provided to all patients. The incumbent has the basic knowledge and skills necessary for function as a NA and is minimally independent in carrying out standardized procedures of limited complexity. The incumbent will be closely supervised and will provide safe, effective care to patients with physical and/or behavioral problems in a hospital, long term care or outpatient setting.
What You'll Do
- →Duties include but are not limited to: Performs a basic range of procedures such as routine urinary catheter care; application of condom catheter; external application of cold or heat with RN direction; emptying of colostomy; or other duties as assigned by the RN after competency has been demonstrated.
- →Performs treatments such as foot soaks, and applications of non-prescribed/non-medicate topical lotions.
- →Checks and accurately records vital signs, weight and height measurements.
- →Collects and labels specimens (urine, stool, sputum) following protocol and labels accurately Provides 1 : 1 observation for patients who are safety risks (within one arm's length of the patient) Performs specific patient related tasks as assigned and assistance may be required from time to time.
- →Assists patient with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as personal hygiene and daily nourishment with direction.
- →Adheres to infection control guidelines in efforts to reduce and prevent infectious disease from spreading.
- →Seeks guidance from staff members regarding appropriate guidelines.
- →Utilizes appropriate PPE Supports patient in self-care activities.
- →Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Work Schedule: 12 hour shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- →Subject to change based on needs of facility.
- →Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).
- →Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.
- →Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
- →Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
