About the Role
This Nursing Assistant - Rehabilitation and Extended Care position is located within the VA Community Living Center at the Central Iowa VA Medical Center in Des Moines, where Veterans receive nursing home level care including help with activities of daily living as well as skilled nursing and medical care. The Nursing Assistants deliver safe, basic physical and emotional care to residents with simple to complex needs while contributing to patient recovery and wellness.
What You'll Do
- →Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Duties include, but not limited to: Monitors and documents patient intake and output reports deviations timely and accurately.
- →Performs purposeful and Intentional Rounding Performs nursing procedures within scope of practice and according to policies and standard procedures including, but not limited to: colostomy care, nail/skin care, simple dressing and activities of daily living assistance, foley catheter cares, application of braces and prosthetic devices, and restorative programs (ROM, AROM, PROM, Ambulation).
- →Documents patient information and care in EHRM Works on small group activities with patients/residents according to the patients/resident treatment plan.
- →Recognizes the residents' autonomy and promotes independence by means of respect, limit setting, and individualized treatment.
- →Participates in Treatment Planning Meetings.
- →Manages patient behavior and intervenes and requests assistance from other health care members.
- →Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.
- →Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
