About the Role
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.

- →Haley VA Medical Center Geriatrics and Extended Care Service is seeking an experienced and dynamic Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP).
- →Our ideal applicants are those who want to contribute to the achievement of quality care standards, as well as the growth and development of a VA academic hospital program.
- →The Nurse Practitioner in Home Based Primary Care (HBPC) provides in-home primary care services and conducts comprehensive evaluation and management of enrolled veterans including review of medical records, patient/caregiver interviews, completion of comprehensive geriatric assessment, creating and implementing treatment plan of care in collaboration with attending physician.
- →HBPC Program currently serves veterans living in Pasco, Polk, Hernando, Hillsborough, Citrus, and parts of Sumter County.
- →Incumbent may rotate between counties to meet the needs of the patients served.
- →The HBPC provider is a core member of the HBPC interdisciplinary team who participates in care management.
- →The provider collaborates with an HBPC physician.
- →Major duties and responsibilities include: Assumes the primary medical responsibility for assigned patients.
- →Deliver care in the home of Veterans.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓English Language Proficiency.
- ✓In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(f), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.
- ✓Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.
- ✓Acceptable form(s) of identification will be required to complete pre-employment requirements (https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/form-i-9-acceptable-documents).
- ✓Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued identification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
- ✓You may be required to serve a probationary period.
