The Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVACHS) is seeking to add an experienced full-time Gastroenterology Nurse Practitioner (NP) to our GI Division. Duties will focus on enhancing our Veteransl access to GI care through outpatient clinics. What You'll Do
- →The Tucson VA is a tertiary care facility providing a full range of clinical services including complex coronary angioplasty, electrophysiology, structural heart procedures, cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, Mohs surgery, ERCP, EUS and navigational bronchoscopy.
- →SAVAHCS has been a flagship quality provider within the VA and was a 2012 winner of the prestigious Robert W.
- →Carey Performance Excellence Award.
- →On the recently released CMS hospital ratings, SAVAHCS is the only five-star hospital in Tucson.
- →We are in a growth area for the VA.
- →Consequently, the VA is open to major capital investment in our facility; we are in the construction phase for both an Emergency Department expansion and a Primary Care expansion.
- →SAVACHS is the principal teaching affiliate of the University of Arizona Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy.
- →The successful candidate is expected to work collaboratively in an academic medical environment, communicating effectively with students, residents, fellows and attending physicians, as the situation requires.
- →The GI Nurse Practitioner (NP) is with advanced clinical knowledge and to provide professional assessment, coordination, and planning of multiple health care services, emphasizing quality, timeliness, and the advancement of the VA mission.
- →The NP, holds clinical privileges, and practices in collaboration with other health care professionals to provide direct and indirect care.
- →Clinical core privileges of the GI NP include the management, treatment, and ordering, performing, and interpreting labs, radiography, and other diagnostic tests for acute and chronic gastroenterological disorders of the adult population.
- →The NP is responsible for providing care for GI patients in the outpatient setting, acting on behalf of the patients to ensure that necessary clinical services are received and that progress is being made toward GI team care goals.
- →The NP is responsible for clinical documentation for outpatient services.

Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓English Language Proficiency.
- ✓In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(f), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.

- ✓Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued identification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical evaluation.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
