About the Role
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. - →The VA Midwest Health Care Network advocates for a Whole Health System of care in each of the Medical Centers.

- →As an employee operating in a Whole Health System of care, you will operate in a model with three core elements, seeking to create a personalized health plan for each Veteran.

- →Primary Care Provider assigned to perform Compensation and Pension Program (C&P) duties, providing C&P, Registry, Disability and Environmental Health exams for Veterans.
- →ONLY current VISN 23 applicants will be considered.
- →VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards Duties include but not limited to the following: Primarily responsible for evaluations pertaining to C&P examinations requested by the Veterans Health Administration (VHA).
- →Perform comprehensive medical evaluations of Veterans seeking disability benefits.
- →Review Veterans' medical history, service treatment records, and claims-related documentation.
- →Conduct structured physical examinations according to VA guidelines and protocols.
- →Document objective findings, clinical impressions, and required diagnostic testing.
- →Complete Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) to assess the severity and impact of claimed conditions.
- →Provide medical opinions regarding service connection, aggravation, and functional impairment.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓English Language Proficiency.
- ✓In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(f), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.
- ✓Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.
- ✓Acceptable form(s) of identification will be required to complete pre-employment requirements (https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/form-i-9-acceptable-documents).
- ✓Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued identification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).

- ✓You may be required to serve a probationary period.
