About the Role
About the Position: This position is located at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Director for Surgery, Department of Preoperative Nursing main Operating Room, in Bethesda, Maryland. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
What You'll Do
- →Provide direct nursing care, of a highly specialized nature, to patients undergoing major surgical procedures in the Operating Room.
- →Conduct initial perioperative assessment.
- →Review surgeons preference cards for desired medications, equipment, and surgical supplies.
- →Respond to the needs of the surgeon, anesthesia provider, and patient during each surgical procedure.
- →Provide oversight of sedated patients prior, during, and post-procedures.
- →Monitor and utilize simple and highly technical equipment.
- →Function as charge nurse assuming the responsibility for promoting quality, cost-effective nursing care.
