About the Role
The Falls Prevention Program Manager (PM) is based on national standards, evidenced-based practice, and outcomes research in accordance with the scope of practice. Serves as a consultant for problem resolution across service/discipline lines. Maintains flexibility with a high degree of interpersonal skills, effective communication, leadership, motivation, self-direction, and ongoing evaluation of activities. Follows procedures per established policies and guidelines.
What You'll Do
- →Demonstrates leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others.
- →Demonstrates proficiency in decision-making and using the nursing process for complex situations that effect performance outcomes at the point of care.
- →The Falls Prevention Program Manager (PM) Registered Nurse (RN) applies the nursing process to systems or processes to improve care.
- →Supports and enhances client self-determination, while serving as a resource for clients and staff in resolving ethical issues.
- →Developing patient/caregiver education programs for fall and injury prevention.
- →Overseeing and managing the local falls database.
- →Coaching unit managers and their staff on fall prevention strategies, serving as a preceptor and/or mentor.
- →Formulating trends and providing the trends at least quarterly to the Associate Director of Patient Care Service (ADPCS).
- →Working in collaboration with the Patient Safety Managers (PSMs) and staff to build a culture of safety.
- →Focuses on leadership in strategically planning long-term goals for the microsystem (unit, team, or workgroup) that impacts operations or resources.
- →Strong data and analytics capabilities preferred.
- →Experience with patient safety, quality management, or fall prevention initiatives preferred.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
