About the Role
The Assistant Nurse Manager in Dialysis functions as a clinical expert and is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing or supervising direct patient care. The Assistant Nurse Manager also supports the Nurse Manager with their supervisory duties and is accountable for the 24/7 operation of their designated unit.
What You'll Do
- →The duties of this position include, but are not limited to: Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates delivery of care based on age specific components.
- →Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care.
- →Provides coverage for other Assistant Nurse Managers as needed.
- →Participates and is accountable for the direction and supervision of specific orientations, trainings, development of staff, and evaluations of individual staff performance.
- →Influences Veteran patient care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team to remove barriers and implement new evidence-based cutting-edge programs/processes.
- →Engages in professional organizations to enhance leadership and career growth.
- →Adheres to ethical principles in decision-making, fostering accountability at personal, organizational, and staff levels.
- →Equips staff with tools for culturally competent care and promotes a culture of accountability for high-quality, cost-effective outcomes.
- →Contributes to the development of care delivery models and environmental design, ensuring evidence-based, accessible, affordable, and equitable patient care.
- →Aligns nursing/clinical objectives with organizational strategic outcomes while participating in strategy planning and execution.
- →Maintains knowledge and ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards, Directives, policies, and standard operating procedures (SOP).
- →Leads initiatives to improve the Veteran experience i.e., care coordination, timeliness to resolve issues, negative trends, or environment of care concerns, beyond the immediate practice setting.
- →Demonstrates positive, effective communication skills, professional behaviors and leadership that promotes a commitment to excellence, improving nursing practice, and fostering collaboration among customers beyond the immediate practice setting.
- →Possible tours include: Monday - Friday; 6:00am - 2:30pm; 8:00am -4:30pm, etc.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.

- ✓Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued identification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
- ✓You may be required to serve a probationary period.
