About the Position: This position is with Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC) in the Directorate of Psychiatric Unit in Honolulu, Hawaii. Tripler Army Medical Center is a tobacco-free workplace. Tobacco products include, but are not limited to, smoking, smokeless tobacco, and electronic nicotine delivery devices.
What You'll Do
- →Perform a comprehensive mental health nursing assessment and history to plan, provide and direct nursing care across the continuum of care.
- →Utilize appropriate interview skills to identify existing and potential problems and formulates a nursing plan of care.
- →Describe in writing the patient's appearance, emotional status, interaction with staff and/or family, and knowledge level of disease process.
- →Utilize and instruct others in the use of single and specialized equipment as appropriate to clinical area.
- →Teach patient and family members regarding the disease process, treatment, diagnostic procedures, use of equipment related to disease/care, expected, adverse reactions to medications, discharge planning; health maintenance, and illness prevention.
- →Administer many psychotropic and complex medications via the oral, intramuscular, subcutaneous, intradermal, topical, rectal, respiratory, intravenous routes.
- →Develop and present training related to psychiatric/mental health nursing to enhance the knowledge base of peers and subordinates.
- →Participate in group and milieu therapy as well as individual therapies.
- →Direct the work of Psychiatric Technicians, Licensed Practical Nurses, Registered nurses, students and volunteers.
