About the Role
About the Position: You will closely observe patients, independently anticipate, recognize, and respond to numerous conflicting situations as they occur, and provide specialized/comprehensive nursing care and management primarily to Hematology/Oncology patients, but also to Endocrinology, Infectious Disease, and Rheumatology patients. You will dynamically support and perform nursing duties across all clinic specialties as mission requirements dictate. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation
What You'll Do
- →Provide advanced, highly specialized professional nursing care to oncology and hematology outpatients along the entire disease continuum.
- →Administer and monitor complex antineoplastic agents, chemotherapy regimens, monoclonal antibodies, and supportive medications.
- →Monitor patients for acute treatment complications, including anaphylaxis, allergic reactions, and extravasation of vesicant agents.
- →Manage complex situations like febrile neutropenia, dehydration, and organ toxicity, facilitating transfer to higher levels of care as needed.
- →Provide clinical guidance, instruction, and consultation to nursing staff on the monitoring, assessment, and treatment of toxicities.
- →Counsel patients regarding treatment protocols, anticipated results, medical procedures, potential complications, and safety measures.
- →Evaluate and coordinate all pre- and post-chemotherapy care, assisting with bone marrow biopsies and collaborating on research protocols.
- →Assess patient conditions, interpret and execute physician orders, and develop or adjust individualized nursing plans of care.
- →Provide orientation, formal and informal on-the-job training, and serve as a skilled resource person for clinical personnel on equipment and complex procedures.
- →Maintain clinic nursing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), participate in continuing education, and coordinate oncology nursing services and resources.
