About the Role
About the Position: This position is with the Defense Health Agency at the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center located at Fort Hood, Texas. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Student loan repayment may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service This is a Direct Hire Solicitation
What You'll Do
- →Ensure maintenance of adequate medical supplies and medications to be used in crash cart.
- →Develop a nursing care plan for the management of acute and chronically ill adult and pediatric patients collaborating with other members of the health care team.
- →Administer oxygen, IV fluids, blood transfusions, chemotherapy and prescribed oral, subcutaneous and intramuscular medications utilizing mg/kg-dosing calculations for pediatric and adult patients as required.
- →Provide information and education on the disease process, pre and postoperative care, procedures, safety factors, use of equipment, use of medications and health maintenance issues.
- →Set up, operate, and monitor specialized equipment such as cardiac monitors, pulse ox meters, IVAC and PCA pumps, feeding pumps, defibrillators, etc.
- →Manage nasal-pharyngeal and gastric suction as well as a variety of other drainage tubes such as Foley catheters, hemovacs, JP drains, chest tubes.
