About the Role
The Nurse-Cardiac Catheterization/Electrophysiology Laboratory (CCL) is responsible for providing competent, evidence-based procedural care to assigned patients and oversight of staff, as appropriate in the pre/post procedural setting. The Nurse delivers and manages the care of patients undergoing therapeutic and diagnostic cardiology procedures including both inpatients and outpatients.
What You'll Do
- →The duties of the Nurse-Cardiac Catheterization/Electrophysiology Laboratory include but are not limited to: Provides patient care, care coordination, health promotion, health education and coaching.
- →Assists in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies, and providing quality improvement and outcomes utilization.
- →Assesses the patients physical and mental status prior to procedures, educates on procedural and pre/post-procedural care, and documents responses to interventions, findings, and reports any changes.
- →Partners with the patient, family, and interdisciplinary team to promote effective and safe transitions across the health care continuum, including the Veteran's goals of care.
- →Functions in several roles to include, pre-procedure assessments, post procedural recovery, and assisting providers during procedures.
- →Maintains proficiency on the maintenance, cleaning, and preparation of cardiology specific equipment.
- →Recognizes changes in patient care situations and initiate appropriate emergency responses.
- →Adapts to changes in the daily schedule.
- →May be assigned call, in which the Nurse will follow all facility policies regarding response time.
- →Subject to change based on facility needs.

Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
