About the Role
One vacancy is available in the Nursing, Ambulatory Care Department of the Fort Rucker, Alabama Clinic for a Registered Nurse.
What You'll Do
- →Major duties: Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care.
- →Administers procedures per established policies and guidelines.
- →Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team.
- →May participate in the systematic evaluation of current practice, development, coordination, and management of the patient care programs.
- →Serves as a consultant for problem resolution.
- →Maintains flexibility with a high degree of interpersonal skills, effective communication, leadership, motivation, self-direction, and ongoing evaluation of activities.
- →Utilizes the nursing process in assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of quality and safe care of Veterans evidenced by comprehensive management of patient safety standards and best practices.
- →Core elements of performance include knowledge and active participation in the unit/program level quality improvement process and initiatives as well as customer service programs.
- →The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing competent, evidence-based care to a patient population with oversight of licensed vocational nurses/nursing assistants as appropriate to the setting.
- →The nurse will assist in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies and providing quality improvement and outcomes utilization.
- →This nurse integrates knowledge, skills, abilities, and judgment and is self-directed in goal setting for managing complex situations.
- →Demonstrates proficiency in decision-making and using the nursing process for complex situations that effect performance outcomes at the point of care.
- →Practice is enhanced through development of collegial relationships.
- →Demonstrates leadership and collaboration by using the group process to solve problems.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.
- ✓Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.

- ✓Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued identification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical evaluation.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
