About the Role
You will serve as a Nuclear Engineer/Health Physicist in the Guam Radiological Control - 105.1G ofPEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF. A Cost-of-Living-Allowance (COLA) of 11.88% will be added to the stated salary.
What You'll Do
- →You will participate and consult with waterfront project planning, attend work meetings and review work procedures and work practices affecting radiological controls.
- →You will provide oversight and input on projects assigned for a specific Ship to identify work or evolutions that will require significant radiological controls and oversight.
- →You will be responsible for oversight and assuring appropriate radiological controls is factored into the planning, technical engineering procedures, and job preparations for work in assigned areas.
- →You will perform duties pertinent to control of radioactivity and personnel exposure to ionizing radiation in assigned waterfront project engineering areas.
- →You will be responsible for overseeing, planning, coordinating, and exercising radiological work for naval nuclear work related to Nuclear Regional Maintenance Department (NRMD) Guam and Guam nuclear facilities.
Requirements
- ✓In addition to the Experience required above, applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Nuclear Engineer, Series 0840, requirements: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
- ✓Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
- ✓OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

- ✓OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
- ✓Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
- ✓Health Physics, Series 1306, requirements: Degree: natural science or engineering that included at least 30 semester hours in health physics, engineering, radiological science, chemistry, physics, biology, mathematics, and/or calculus.
- ✓OR Combination of education and experience -- courses as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or other education; or certification as a health physicist by the American Board of Health Physics, plus appropriate experience and other education that provided an understanding of sciences applicable to health physics comparable to that described in paragraph A.
