This position is a Motor Vehicle Operator assigned to the Transportation Section at the Miami VA Healthcare System, Facilities Management Service. The purpose of this position is to operate motor vehicles to transport patients, staff, and materials. The Motor Vehicle Operator will drive predetermined and/or scheduled routes or special runs.
What You'll Do
- →Major duties and responsibilities include: Operate motor vehicles to transport patients, staff, and materials.
- →Assists patients into and out of vehicles, secures wheelchairs and other mobility devices, ensures use of seatbelts, and follows infection-control and patient safety procedures during transport.
- →Conducts pre-trip and post-trip inspections; checks fuel, oil, coolant, tires, lights, and safety equipment; reports defects; completes trip logs and other required documentation.
- →Follows assigned routes and schedules; interprets trip tickets and written/oral instructions; adjusts routes as needed due to traffic, weather, or facility needs.
- →Adheres to VA and DOT safety regulations; responds to vehicle incidents or medical emergencies using basic first-aid and emergency procedures; reports accidents and hazards.
- →Preferred Experience: CDL A, B -with Passenger Endorsement DESIGNATED DRUG-TESTING POSITION: Applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- →Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- →Applicants will not be appointed to the position if a verified positive drug test result is received.
