About the Role

In this position, you will work as a member of the Mount Weather Emergency Operations Center (MWEOC) team within FEMA.The ideal candidate for this position will have experience performing custodial services in a commercial environment.

What You'll Do

  • All MWEOC staff have emergency assignments and are considered deployed in place.
  • Exercises and activations are planned and unplanned, and may require long hours, nights, weekends and holidays.
  • All MWEOC employees are: (1) required to use a government-issued electronic device (to include cellular phones); (2) subject to recall during emergency situations; and (3) required to perform work in locations both above and below ground.
  • What will I do in this position if hired?
  • In this position, you will serve as a Motor Vehicle Operator (Custodial) performing various motor vehicle operation tasks and custodial duties in support of the Mount Weather Emergency Operations Center.
  • Operating one or more motor vehicles including pickup trucks, panel trucks, carryalls, vans and carts which have an approximate gross vehicle weight of up to 10,000 pounds where the vehicles are driven regularly to transport personnel, supplies, materials and equipment through the site.
  • Cleaning floors using power scrubbers, buffers, mops, brooms, and vacuum cleaners using powered wall washing machines and heavy industrial vacuum cleaners.
  • Performing laundry duties, including handling laundry carts, marking individual bundles and sorting bulk laundry by type of garment or fabric; cleaning restrooms and fixtures such as toilets, showers, sinks, mirrors, faucets and tile floors.
  • Receiving stores, stacks, and pallets of custodial equipment and supplies; conducting periodic inventories, reporting discrepancies to a supervisor.
  • Checking warehouse documents to verify incoming receipt of supplies and equipment and identifying damage to equipment and materials.
