This position is located in the office of Purchased Referred Care at Yankton Service Unit, Wagner South Dakota. The purpose of the position is to provide clerical support to the Purchased Referred Care (PRC) program. The position functions under the supervision of the Managed Care Nurse. A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).
What You'll Do
- →Total Compensation Package - Check out IHS's outstanding total compensation package for this job: Medical Support Assistant Total Compensation | Pay (ihs.gov) Reviews patient information to help determine eligibility for care, rules and regulations, the service delivery areas, tribal membership, and residence.
- →Supports staff in examining alternate resources for patients under the program and screens for patient eligibility through the Medicare, Medicaid, Vocational Rehabilitation, and V.A., private insurance or other third-party programs.
- →Prepares responses and routine correspondence and compile information concerning contract services for submission to patients.
- →Provides customer services to patients and visitors, answers inquiries or addresses requests, and directs them to the appropriate personnel.
- →Assists staff with follow ups to collect patient medical information, patient visits, and discharge dates to complete medical referrals and decision of payments.
Requirements

- ✓Citizenship is required Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959 This is a designated position covered by Public Law 101-630, requiring contact or control over Indian children.
