About the Role
This position is in the Veterans Administration (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), at the Charles George VA Medical Center (VAMC) in Community Care Service. The Advanced Medical Support Assistant (AMSA) performs clerical/administrative work supporting the care and treatment of Veterans in Community Care Services.
What You'll Do
- →VA Careers - Medical Support Assistant: https://youtube.com/embed/EE9c4XkaELo Major duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to: Initiates and carries out a variety of administrative and technical duties.
- →Provides administrative support to coordination of patient care and appointments and logistical factors associated with patient care such as coordination of care between Asheville VAMC, community based clinics, and outside facilities.
- →Serves as liaison between referring provider, community provider between VA's for traveling Veterans.
- →Serves as the Veteran's clinical main point of contact for community care and traveling Veterans/families and provides Veteran/care/care provider education related to consults or follow-up activities.
- →Perform clinical review of consults using utilization management principles including evidence- based medical, Interqual criteria, pre-appointment requirements and/or local guidance.
- →Conducts a comprehensive case management assessment within specific Veterans populations and post appointment follow- up to identify future needs.
- →Directs and facilitates scheduling of VA and community care appointments Work Schedule: Monday- Friday 8:00am- 4:30pm Telework: May be available on an ad-hoc basis.

Requirements
