About the Role

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a MEDICAL SERVICES PROGRAM MANAGER (T32), PD# D3550000 and is part of the RI JFHQ Medical Detachment. Purpose is to plan, coordinate, direct, and implement the medical readiness administrative programs of the state and provide oversight/supervision for the other programs located in the Office of the State Surgeon.

What You'll Do

  • Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management.
  • Selects or recommends selection of candidates for vacancies, promotions, details, and reassignments in consideration of skills and qualifications, mission requirements, and EEO objectives.
  • Develops, modifies, and/or interprets performance standards.
  • Explains performance expectations to employees and provides regular feedback on strengths and weaknesses.
  • Holds employees responsible for satisfactory completion of work assignments.
  • Appraises subordinate workers performance ensuring consistency and equity in rating techniques.
  • Recommend awards when appropriate and approves within-grade increases.
  • Hears and resolves employee complaints and refers serious unresolved complaints to higher level management.
  • Initiates action to correct performance or conduct problems.
  • Effects disciplinary measures such as warnings and reprimands and recommends action in more serious disciplinary matters.
  • Prepare documentation to support actions taken.
  • Identifies employee developmental needs and provides or arranges for training (formal and on-the-job) to maintain and improve job performance.
  • Manages processes and procedures by planning, coordinating and providing guidance and policy for all medical actions within the state.
  • Oversight for ARCP, DES, and LOD programs.

Requirements

  • Appropriate combination of education and experience: generally requires that an applicant possess a core of educational credit plus additional education and/or experience.
  • The quality of the combination of education and experience must be sufficient to demonstrate that the applicant possesses the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform work in the occupation, and is comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of a full 4-year course of study with a major in the appropriate field.
  • Other supporting documents, such as college transcript(s) if qualifying based on education, must be submitted in English.
  • Failure to submit the required documentation will result in automatic disqualification.
  • You must provide transcripts or other documentation to support your educational claims.
  • To receive credit for education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the education requirements for this position.
