About the Position: This position is located at Pine Bluff Arsenal serving as the principle engineer and point of contact in the Production Division for Mechanical Engineering problems, projects, and expertise.
What You'll Do
- →Serve as technical authority on problems related to the manufacture of chemical munitions.
- →Review designs to remedy defects and ensure safety and functional requirements are met.
- →Coordinate with other Engineers to plan changes in production equipment, locations, and in relocations necessary for the completion of assigned programs.
- →Ensures machinery and production equipment remain operational to reduce downtown.
- →Attend high-level meetings to map out production requirements or procedures to safely manufacture new munitions.
Requirements
- ✓Specialized Experience (continued) GS-09: One year of specialized experience which includes 1.
- ✓Resolving common occurring problems in the manufacture of chemical munitions and chemical defense items; 2.
- ✓Reviewing design submittals to identify compliance issues; 3.
- ✓Assuring equipment is in good state of repair to maintain optimum rates of production.
- ✓This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
- ✓OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
- ✓OR Combination: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
- ✓To compute the percentage, divide your total months of experience by 12.
- ✓Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18.
- ✓Add the two percentages.
- ✓GS-11: One year of specialized experience which includes, 1.
- ✓Making recommendations concerning the acceptance or rejection of new designs or changes to remedy defects; 2.
- ✓Checking engineering design work to assure safety and function requirements are attained; 3.
- ✓Developing new ways to improve quality or increase output when established engineering policies or procedures to not meet requirements.
