About the Role
This position is located in the Warehouse area of the Logistics Service in a Veteran Affairs Health Care System (VA HCS) and supported catchment area.
What You'll Do
- →Major Duties: Leads crew of Materials Handlers as a regular and recurring part of the job in order to accomplish assigned projects and daily operational functions.
- →Ensures workers are aware of trade techniques and practices, and explains safety precautions to be followed while setting up machinery and equipment and operating related vehicles.
- →Ensures workers are briefed on instructions received from supervisors, and getting work started, by assigning the immediate tasks to be performed by individual members of the crew.
- →Maintains a current knowledge, and answers questions of other workers on procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives (for example, technical orders).
- →Checks work while in progress and when finished to see whether the supervisor's instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines have been met.
- →Spot checks work in progress to ensure chain of supervision's intent is being met and conforms to regulatory compliance.
- →Reports progress and issues to supervisor as well as the need for resources to overcome obstacles or advance warehouse operations.
