This is a Tier 2 position. The salary for Tier 2 positions in Army is normally between $199,172 and $219,000.

What You'll Do

  • The Director, Armaments and Communications-Electronics (CE) Directorate serves as a senior advisor to the US Ambassador, USNATO, and to the Secretary of Defense's Representative for Europe for all matters pertaining to armaments, communications and electronics.
  • The incumbent provides direction and oversight regarding US participation in the development of armaments, communications, and electronics activities within the 31 nations at NATO, to include multi-national projects, investment costs, development, and integration.
  • The Director assures US policy and objectives concerning US resource positions are fully vetted with NATO requirements and ensures NATO cooperative programs are fully in accord with US policy.
  • Coordinates NATO positions with other US officials and agencies to assure consistency and negotiates with Allies to gain acceptance of the US positions.
  • Serves as the principal focal point for US industry regarding development and adaptability of US products.
  • Serves under the general direction of the Secretary of War Representative for Europe/U.S.
  • Dept of War Advisor to NATO.
  • Performance evaluation is based on the demonstration of initiative to influence NATO policy activities in the armament community and encourage transformational activity that supports U.S.
  • NATO policy and priorities.
  • Serves as the principal US representative to the NATO Communications and Information Organization Agency Supervisory Board.
  • Directly supervises personnel at the Colonel/GS-15 levels and manages annual budget of $1.0 Billion.

Requirements

  • CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Must be a U.S.
  • You will be required to provide proof of U.S.
  • Citizenship.
  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • You will serve a one-year probationary period unless you have previously completed the probationary period in the SES.
  • Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so.
  • You must be able to submit and pass designated and/or Random Drug Testing as required.
  • File a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report OGE-278e within 30 days of appointment and annually from then on.
  • Appointment is subject to the completion of a favorable suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a background investigation.
  • You must be able to obtain/maintain the appropriate clearance and access level for this position.
  • Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Direct deposit of pay is required.
  • The incumbent is required to travel on both scheduled and unscheduled aircraft, and other modes as required, under conditions specified under the DoD Joint Travel Regulations.
  • The incumbent is expected to travel on short notice to attend high level meetings to obtain resolution of problems and gather information to assist in the decision-making process.
