About the Role

This position is located in the Office of the Director of Operations, Office of the Assistant Secretary of War for Legislative Affairs (OASW(LA)). The Assistant Secretary of War for Legislative Affairs (ASW(LA)) is the principal advisor to the Secretary and Deputy Secretary of War on all matters pertaining to the Department of War (DoW) Congressional relations and has continuing responsibility for promotion of mutual understanding and cooperation between the DoW and the Legislative Branch.

What You'll Do

  • Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following: Assists in the operations of the Office of the Assistant Secretary of War for Legislative Affairs (OASW(LA)) performing various administrative studies that require knowledge and skill in applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to issues concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of administrative programs.
  • Develops and improves the effectiveness of the administrative work methods and procedures, information and documentation systems.
  • Maintains internal control of staff and administrative actions throughout (OASW(LA)).
  • Assists with reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating travel budget requests and estimates.
  • Prepares travel orders and assists personnel with processing travel vouchers.
  • Serves as Purchase Card Holder for OASW(LA).

  • PASS/FAIL COURSES: If more than 10 percent of your undergraduate course work (credit hours) were taken on a pass/fail basis, your claim of superior academic achievement must be based upon class standing or membership in an honor society.
  • GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study.
  • Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis.
