About the Role
This position functions as a Maintenance Worker within the Facilities Management service at the Fort Meade VA Medical Center in Fort Meade, SD and performs a variety of sub journey level trade tasks.
What You'll Do
- →Major duties and responsibilities include: Plans, lays out, and completes work involving the repair, replacement, and installation of wood components such as siding, doors, paneling, ceiling tile, window and door frames, and door jams.
- →Constructs shelving and simple frameworks; installs and replaces hinges, locks, catches, and related hardware.
- →Performs medium grade finish work Repairs building infrastructure to include minor electrical and plumbing.
- →Uses hand and power tools such as hammers, drills, handsaws, screwdrivers, routers, power saws, and sanders.
- →Assists journeyman technicians with more complicated tasks including electricians, pipefitters and HVAC.
- →Paints materials installed as part of repair work and performs touch up painting on interior and exterior surfaces.
- →Ensures workmanship is free from skips, runs, and drips; uses brushes, rollers, spray guns, and related methods.
- →Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements
