This Maintenance Worker position is located in in the Facilities Management Section of the Sheridan VA Health Care System at Sheridan, Wyoming. The primary functions of this position are to transport, set up, and maintain equipment and furniture, as well as, to carry out housekeeping duties in various locations as needed. This position receives and fulfills requests for furniture throughout the patient care and administrative areas of the Sheridan VA Health Care System to include CBOCs.
What You'll Do
- →Major duties include but are not limited to: Possesses and maintains a valid driver's license.
- →Operates motor vehicles which may include pickup trucks, panel trucks, flatbed trucks or crew cab pickup trucks.
- →Reads, understands, and applies instructions contained in manuals, blueprints, specifications, etc.
- →Interprets and performs work in accordance with the drawings, technical manuals, etc.
- →Provides maintenance and minor repairs to office furniture.
- →Installs modular furniture, standard curtain rods, patient privacy curtain tracks, traverse rods, etc.
- →Utilizes pressure washers and other heavy equipment to strip, scrub, wax, wash walls, vacuum, shampoo rugs, and trash pressure packing.
- →Cleans rest rooms, bathrooms, and shower rooms, ensuring that they are cleaned and meet acceptable standards (cleans, disinfects, and deodorizes lavatories, showers, bathtubs, urinals, and toilet bowls; cleans mirrors, sinks, and water fountains; washes and polishes light and toilet fixtures).
- →Cleans bedside stands, over bed lights, blood pressure cuffs, bed tables, etc. in patient rooms.
- →Provides basic maintenance to equipment i.e., power washers, vacuums, buffers, and burnishers.
- →Does inventory for housekeeping and laundry sections of EMS.
- →Keeps the facility clean; empties trash and waste baskets, replaces liners.
- →Transports general refuse, regulated medical waste, and recycling to central collection areas following established procedures for waste management.
- →The position requires operation of a motor vehicle to perform assigned duties.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓Suitable for Federal employment, determined by a background investigation.
