About the Role
This position is located at the United States Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service, National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility (NBAF) in Manhattan, KS. In this position, you will assist higher level employees with painting, carpentry and welding.
What You'll Do
- →Performs helper level tasks that support the repair and maintenance of facilities.
- →Assists welders by preparing materials, performing simple welding tasks, and following all welding safety requirements.
- →Uses measuring instruments such as tapes and rulers to measure materials and ensure proper fitting during carpentry, painting, and welding tasks.
- →Uses pertinent repair and maintenance manuals to perform tasks correctly.
- →Uses sprayers, rollers, brushes, putty knives, scrapers, sanders, and other power tools for painting tasks.
- →Uses welding tools including manual gas torches for simple welding activities as instructed.
- →Operates general hand and power tools associated with painting, carpentry, and welding, ensuring safe and proper tool handling.
