About the Role
This position is located with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), Wildlife Services (WS), National Wildlife Research Center (NWRC) program. The program is multi-faceted and is directed at the reduction of wildlife damage as it relates to agriculture, human health and safety, public and private property, and natural resources.
What You'll Do
- →The duties may include, but are not limited to: Maintenance and construction of research station facilities and assets, including buildings, grounds, pens, traps, fences, supplies, and equipment.
- →Ensuring that WS facilities, equipment, and vehicles are maintained and prepared to support the station.
- →Keeps records of equipment run logs, work orders and preventative maintenance performed in provided maintenance binders and spreadsheets.
- →Develops and adheres to a grounds maintenance schedule/plan and provides weekly progress reports to Station Leader.
- →Oversees contracts that perform landscape services by mowing lawns, walking paths, and fire lanes, as well as removing weeds, planting and maintaining ornamental plants, and removing woody vegetation from animal pens.
- →Assists with design of new water, electrical, and video-observation infrastructure.
- →Serves as the POC for annual maintenance agreements for HVAC, electrical gates, and other agreements as needed.
- →Works with Safety Officer in order to insure all State, Local, and OSHA safety regulations are met in workplace.
- →Serve as accountable property officer.
- →Become purchase card holder: submit purchase requests and reconcile receipts.
