This vacancy is for a WG-4749-10, Maintenance Mechanic, located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), First Coast Guard District, Sector New York, Facilities Engineering Division in Staten Island, New York.
What You'll Do
- →You will serve as a Maintenance Mechanic and be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance and repairs on commercial and residential building/structure components and systems.
- →Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.
- →Typical work assignments include: Operating a variety of heavy equipment to perform rigging, excavation, back filling, and grading or leveling earth to rough specifications.
- →Preparing and painting a variety of surfaces such as interiors and exteriors of buildings and all types of materials where appearances as well as surface protection is important.
- →Performing carpentry work to the interiors and exteriors of buildings, to include work on doors, windows, trim, locks, etc.
- →Repairing and maintaining masonry surfaces, such as brick and block walls, concrete walks, steps and curbs, sheetrock, stucco, etc.
- →Performing clean-up and removal of vegetation on grounds, to include, grass, plants, trees, shrubs, etc.
