The Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor is over the Renovation Team Maintenance & Operations shops for the Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care Systems (GCVAHCS). The position oversees journeymen level of variety trades including various: HVAC, pipefitting, plumbing, insulating, steel stud framing, drywall installation and finishing, carpentry, electrical and dust control measures. DIRECT HIRE AUTHORITY: This position is being filled using Direct-Hire Authority (5 CFR 337.201) for this occupation.
What You'll Do
- →As a Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor you will: Ensure that appropriate personnel maintain shop, storage and equipment room appearance and maintenance requirements.
- →Serve as a Contracting Officer' s Representative (COR) on projects as required.
- →Assist subordinates in repairs and maintenance of equipment when necessary.
- →Read and interpret blueprints, manuals, NFPA and NEC Codes etc.
- →Establish plans for work scheduled to assure that the necessary manpower, equipment, and materials are available for work order completion.
- →Determine material and equipment requirements, work sequences etc.
- →Establish work priorities and deadlines for maintenance and projects.
- →Ensure that proper procedure, safety rules and regulations are being followed.
- →As a first-line supervisor: approves leave, monitors time and attendance, performance standards, training needs, recommends promotions and discipline.
- →Maintain training records and performs Service Level new employee training.
- →Inspect the work of all subordinates and contractors for compliance.
- →Perform all operations in a safe and efficient manner to maintain maximum efficiency.
- →Monitor progress, and ensures subordinates have closed out assigned work orders.
- →Assign projects and tasks to be performed, explains requirements, methods or procedures to be used in accomplishing the work to ensure productivity and quality.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
