This position is in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Chillicothe VA Medical Center (VAMC). The position is in the Pipe Shop, Facilities Management Service (FMS) and works under the direct supervision of the Maintenance & Operations (M&O) Supervisor and is established to provide full-time, first-level supervision for full-time employees.
What You'll Do
- →Duties include, but are not limited to: Conducts risk assessments and develop plans for control of hazardous energy and safe work practices when system outages or repair work are conducted.
- →Ensures hazards are analyzed and identified per OSHA requirements.
- →Ensures that appropriate actions are taken to correct deficiencies found in the facility domestic water, critical water, steam distribution, condensate return, sanitary sewer, and stormwater drainage systems.
- →Proactively plans work to repair or replace systems identified needing such on the facility condition assessment reports.
- →Supervises permanent and temporary employees of the pipe and laundry/dietetics.
- →Installs, maintains, and repairs piping and plumbing systems and fixtures.
- →Installs, maintains, and repairs laundry and dietetic equipment.
- →Ensures that proper tools and materials are on hand to accomplish work.
- →Manages multiple maintenance contracts, equipment, and supply purchases.
- →Reconciles charges or supervises the process to make sure all reconciliations are completed on time according to policy as Purchase Card Holder (PCH).
- →Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:00 am to 2:30 pm Position Description Title/PD#: Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor/PD936040 Physical Requirements: This position requires walking, standing, bending, sitting, crawling, and climbing.
- →Incumbents must have good vision, with or without glasses.
- →May lift or carry tools, equipment, ladders, scaffolding, parts and supplies up to 50 pounds.
- →May occasionally lift and carry items over 50 pounds.
Requirements
