The primary purpose of the position is to perform building and/or utility maintenance and operation duties. Incumbent utilizes journeyman knowledge and skills in several trades and crafts. All of the duties described by this position may not exist in each location, but that should not preclude use of this position.
What You'll Do
- →Applies health, sanitary, and mechanical principles to operate and maintain water treatment systems, including microbiological and chemical processes.
- →Operates treatment equipment such as hypochlorinators, filters, pumps, solution tanks, and valves for both surface and well water systems.
- →Performs maintenance and repair on mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic equipment used in water and wastewater treatment operations.
- →Executes a wide range of carpentry tasks, including constructing frameworks, modifying structures, installing interior/exterior finishes, and building cabinetry and countertops.
- →Conducts electrical repairs by replacing faulty wiring and components, troubleshooting circuits, and interpreting electrical codes and technical drawings.
- →Installs, modifies, and repairs plumbing systems and fixtures, using trade tools and techniques to ensure proper system layout, operation, and maintenance; operates heavy equipment for grading roads, clearing snow, and maintaining drainage systems.

Requirements
- ✓Citizenship required.
- ✓Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
- ✓Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.
- ✓Direct Deposit: Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
- ✓Vehicle Operation: You may be required to complete training and operate a four-wheel drive vehicle.
- ✓Uniform: You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards.
- ✓A uniform allowance will be provided.
- ✓Water and Waster License: You will have 24 months to obtain a Texas Water and Waster Level D license.
- ✓Probationary Period: As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period during which your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest will be evaluated.
- ✓This probationary period is an extension of the appointment process and therefore requires the agency to determine if continued employment would advance the public interest, meet the organization goals and mission of the agency, and/or otherwise promote the efficiency of the service.
